News & Articles Acropolis Rally Legends 2023 – Leg 2: Christodoulakis-Anamolidis inherited the lead of the rally!

Andreas Christodoulakis-Stavros Anamolidis came out on top of the 2nd Acropolis Rally Legends, after the end of the second leg of the rally. The Acropolis Rally Legends is held in conjuction with the Historic Acropolis Rally for the second consecutive year. Cars between 1991 and 2000 are allowed in the event, which is the sixth round of the Legends Cup, a Cup established by OMAE (ASN) for the first time.

In their first rally in a Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo, Christodoulakis-Anamolidis took surprisingly the lead of the rally in Special Stage 8, benefiting from the retirement of the leaders Achilleas Christodoulou-Epaminondas Karanikolas halfway through the second leg. The crew of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI set the fastest time on Saturday morning’s stages, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI’s gearbox had a different view, forcing them out of the rally early. Nikos Moschopoulos-Irene Kogia Grammatikou finished second in Leg 2m with the weakest car of the rally, that managed to come out from the demanding acropolis stages, driving a Toyota Yaris. Third overall finished Kyriakos and Dimitris Vytogiannis in a Subaru Impreza GT Turbo, followed by Vassilis and Eleni Karathanasi, in one of the driver’s rare appearances on gravel with an Opel Astra GSI.

Akis Ladias-Michalis Patrikoussis retired due to gearbox problems on Saturday, driving a Subaru Impreza WRX.

On Sunday, the crews of the 2nd Acropolis Rally Legends will pass through the Mavroneri, Livadeia, Thiva and Neochoraki Special Stages and will finish in Elefsina.
