News & Articles Acropolis Rally Legends 2024 – Entry List
In the 11 Special Stages of the Historic Acropolis Rally, 11 cars from the Legends category will participate. The Acropolis Rally Legends, a parallel event introduced for the first time in 2022, is dedicated to Category A and N cars with an FIA Homologation Certificate issued between January 1, 1991, and December 31, 2001. It counts towards the Legends Cup established by OMAE, marking the fourth round of the series with a coefficient of 3.
Regarding this year’s participants, car No. 101 will be driven by Achilleas Christodoulou and Nikos Petropoulos in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI. The 20-year-old driver, who led last year’s rally until his car’s gearbox failed, is hopeful to emerge victorious from Itea on Saturday afternoon! Beginning his motorsport career in Cross Car events on dirt tracks, he now competes selectively in gravel rallies, partnered with the highly experienced Nikos Petropoulos. The Polish team Pawel Molgo-Maciej Marton arrives in Greece to compete in the Acropolis Rally Legends in a Subaru Impreza. With limited rally experience, they aim to complete every kilometer of the rally and make it to the finish ramp. In the event’s inaugural year in 2022, Kyriakos Vytogiannis entered with a Subaru Impreza, finishing third overall. This year, with the same car and his son Dimitris Vytogiannis as co-driver, they aim for a similar outcome. From Northern Greece, Dionysis Mavrodis and Dimitris Koubotis will participate in the rally in a Subaru Impreza 555. Mavrodis, who began his rally career at the age of 20 with notable success in the Peugeot 206 Cup, will be back on gravel after a seven-year break.
Role reversal for last year’s winners! Andreas Christodoulakis will be co-driving this time, handling the notes for Stavros Anamolidis, who will be behind the wheel of a white Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo. With over 220 starts under his belt, Manolis Panagiotopoulos will participate in the Acropolis Rally Legends alongside Manos Ahtidas in a two-wheel-drive Toyota Yaris. Nikos Moschopoulos will return to the rally, having performed exceptionally well last year before retiring due to mechanical issues. Fotis Alexandropoulos will join him in the Toyota Yaris as co-driver this year. Another competitor from Pyrgos, Nikos Papachristopoulos, will return to active rallying after a seven-year absence, with Nikos Xanthos as his co-driver in a Toyota Yaris. Konstantinos Kapourelakos and Spyros Bogdanos will drive a Toyota Starlet EP81 in the two-day event, while Petros Glantzis and Aris Tsivos, last seen in action in 2018, will reunite in a Citroen Saxo VTS for the Acropolis Rally Legends. Finally, Dimitris Kattis and Vasilis Kougias will take on the challenge with a Skoda Felicia Kit Car, which Kattis recently drove in the Fthinoporino Rally about a month ago.
On Thursday, November 7, from 19:00 to 21:00, administrative and technical checks will take place in a covered area at the colonnade of the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Neo Faliro.
On Friday, November 8, at 12:00, the ceremonial start of the Historic Acropolis Rally will take place in an iconic location. Participants from all categories (Sporting, Regularity, Legends) will start under the Holy Rock of the Acropolis, as befits this international event, and then head to the Olympic Sports Center of Athens, where they will stay overnight.
On Saturday morning, November 9, the Sporting category participants will compete in the Special Stage “Moschopodi,” which is 17.71 km long, and then proceed to “Thiva,” which is 14.91 km long. The day’s program includes the Special Stage “Akraifnio,” measuring 10.36 km, before regrouping in Aliartos. Following will be the Special Stages “Elicon,” 8.06 km long, and “Mavroneri,” 13.37 km long, leading crews to the city of Itea, where there will be a 30-minute service. The first leg concludes with the famous “Karoutes,” measuring 17.63 km, which will take place under the lights!
On Sunday morning, November 10, participants will race again on the “Karoutes,” this time in daylight, and then proceed to the Special Stages “Parnassos,” measuring 15.27 km, and “Prosilion,” measuring 12.22 km. An intermediate service will follow in the coastal town of Itea, which will serve as the center of the rally, concluding with the repetition of the Special Stages “Parnassos” and “Prosilion.” The race will finish in Itea at 16:45.
